Management for Enhanced Productivity & Performance in Intensive Aquaculture
Project Overview
Several organizations provide training for the aquaculture sector. Sessions are generally highly technical (e.g. how to design a Recirculating Aquaculture System, aquaponics, etc.). Few workshops focus on the management of aquaculture systems
This workshop was designed around a multi-day training curriculum focusing on performance management in intensive aquaculture systems to optimize productivity and profitability
- Planning: Developed the curriculum based on practical topics that are required for optimizing the management of an intensive aquaculture system.
- Facilitation; The focus was on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems and the Cost of producing salmonids and oysters in these systems
- Training: Guest lecture format with emphasis on participation. Target audience was Aquaculture Managers, Technicians, Owners/Investors, Students, Government Employees
- 2016 – Development of the curriculum for management of intensive aquaculture systems
- 2017- Approvals of curriculum and speakers through the Canadian Aquaculture Institute at UPEI
- 2017 – Delivery of the workshop at the University of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown
